General Registration $75 - Saturday only OR Both Days (Women).Saturday will be an exclusive seminar for helping our female Iaidoka develop their skills, while Sunday will be opened to all other practitioners 4-Dan and above to align on learnings from the previous day and receive guidance on instructing a wide variety of students. Sensei will not only work with participants on improving their own training methods and practices, but also impart her knowledge, experience, and advice for thriving in a martial arts world growing in gender diversity. As in many other Japanese art forms, however, women are becoming increasingly visible as students and teachers. On July 16 and 17, Atsumi Hatakenaka-Sensei (Kyoshi 8 Dan), the most senior, active female Iaido sensei in the world, will be leading a seminar focused on developing women in Iaido. Since women did not study iaido in significant numbers until the 1970's, most of the senior teachers are men.
